Something
is happening to Emily Webb… will the changes kill her?
Everything
changed the night Emily Cooke died. Emily Webb is used to being the
“other
Emily”, the boring, geeky best friend of Megan. Something is wrong and
it’s
causing personality changes in Emily, making her wild and just a little
crazy.
Who killed Emily Cooke and are they a threat to Emily Webb? And just
who or
what is Emily sensing?
VESPER
is told from Emily Webb’s point of view, interspersed with
“transcripts” of her
interrogation by The Vesper Company. Quite honestly, I wanted more of
the
interrogations as the information revealed far more of what was going
on than Emily’s
story did. And oh the ending… all I will reveal is that the ending of
the last
interrogation left me wanting the next book immediately!
Emily
isn’t the most likable of characters, but her confusion as to what is
going on
is more than understandable. She’s a bit immature which makes the
contrast
between her daily life and the so-called “Nighttime Emily” all the more
jarring. A large portion of the book is focused on Emily’s awakening to
the
mystery behind the changes. Some of the high school aspects last a bit
overlong
for older readers but will appeal to the young adult crowd.
VESPER
puts a new spin on werewolves. Jeff Sampson writes an engaging tale
that leaves
readers anxiously waiting on the second book in the trilogy. I can’t
wait to
read HAVOC to see what happens next!
